The global Internet continues to grow around the world, but unevenly.

Our efforts are aimed at not only increasing the reach and reliability of the Internet in the short term, but also ensuring the foundations for continued growth are solidly in place.

The global Internet is made up of a vast network of independent and interconnected computers and measuring any aspect of it on a global scale seems almost impossible. People and organizations from around the world have strived to collect data on the various facets of the Internet but there is no single site or tool that encompasses the whole essence of this amazing technology. In order to help everyone to better understand the Internet, we are building a tool that consolidates trusted third party Internet measurement data from various sources into a single platform. The platform would focus on the following key items:
Internet Shutdowns
The data that will be used here will assist in establishing a framework for measuring the frequency, duration and network reach of Internet shutdowns, along with in-depth analysis and reporting. It will also be supported by first-hand accounts and insights from local communities to explain how the shutdown is affecting them.
Enabling Technologies
New development on technologies are important to allow the Internet to keep growing in order to meet the great expectations of its users. We have taken it upon ourselves to identify these technologies to improve Internet scalability, security, trust and availability.
Internet Resilience
It is very important to have a resilient Internet connection to maintain an acceptable level of service in the face of faults and challenges to normal operation. We’ll study, analyze and track resiliency metrics to improve Internet resilience at the local, regional and global level.

STRENGTHENING THE INTERNET (https://www.internetsociety.org/issues/strong-internet/)

Security and trustworthiness are preconditions to the Internet’s use and growth.
